Mr. Cerwinske Math and Science
Mr. Cerwinske's Math and Science
Class Vision:  MR. Cerwinske's Marvelous Minions - The Best 5th Grade Class!

Class Mission:
We will be good role models, we shall never give up, and study our hardest.

Class Goals:
1.  Each student achieves at least a 90% or higher on each quiz, quick check and test.
2.  80% of the class will turn in 100% of their homework and assignments each week.
3.  75% of the class will earn Honor Roll for each quarter.

Math - We will use a blended approach in our math instruction.  Many projects and hands on activities will also be used during class and core extension time.  Science content and principles will also be integrated into math instruction periodically.

Science - Our Science curriculum is full but very exciting!  A hands on inquiry-based approach to teaching Science is generally used in class.  The students are exposed to different methods of solving scientific problems and using the Scientific Inquiry Process.  A "Scientific Notebook" will be used by each student to organize the material presented as well as keep track of assignments throughout the year.
Class Announcements
Holiday Party
Our 5th Grade Holiday Party will be on Thursday December 22nd from 9:15 - 10:30.  I already have some parents organizing the activities, so they may be contacting you for bringing in items.  Happy Holidays!!
Science Fair Night is Coming!!
The 5th grade will be hosting a Science Fair Night for fifth grade students and their parents on Wednesday December 7th from 7 - 8 pm in the cafeteria.  We will go over expectations for the Tyler Science Fair and go through a sample project.  Hope to see you there!
Thank You!!
Thank you to all the parents and students who came to conferences.  I really enjoyed spending time together seeing the great things our students are doing!  Hopefully you found our time beneficial and rewarding.  If you have further questions or need to speak at anytime you may reach me by email or phone.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Conferences are scheduled to be held Tuesday November 8th from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm.  If you would like to schedule a time to meet, please let me know a time you would prefer and I will do my best to accommodate.  For those parents who signed up at Back to School Night, you will be sent a reminder about your conference time.  This will be a STUDENT-LED conference, so please bring your child.

If you prefer to meet with both Mrs. Daley and myself, we will set up an alternate day to conference.
5th Grade Handbook Available
For parents wishing to have a copy of our handbook, it is available on this Fusion page for you to read through / download.
Notebook / Assignment Redos
When students' Notebooks are graded they may choose to redo any assignment from that unit only as long as the assignment was completely done and turned in on time and did NOT earn a zero.  The assignment corrections MUST be done within two days of it being returned.
